Wynken is a unisex brand from London creating childrenswear from 2 to 11 years. Elbe Lealman established Wynken in 2014 after becoming a mother. Her idea was to produce contemporary and creative clothing for modern kids with strong design and quality at its core that would appeal to both the young minds of the wearer and those of their parents.
The ethos is to create collections with a sense of freedom and comfort of movement in volume shapes and soft fabrications. Elbe uses multiple techniques to create pattern be it in print, applique or embroidery to create rich textured clothing. The logo of the winking eye reflects the playfulness of the designs reminding us never to forget the magical time of life the wearer is experiencing.
Elbe recently won the 2019 Milk Magazine award for Best Fashion collection at the Playtime Paris trade fair.
SS19 Collection – En La Habana
Wynken’s summer collection takes inspiration from pre revolution Cuba and in particular the night life of Havana. 1950’s studio photography, cigar box artwork, the Cuban magazine ‘Carteles’ with its iconic typefaces and the music of the Buena Vista Social Club complete the array of influences.
Flamenco, Cha cha cha, tropical Palms and Banana leaves feature in prints that complement the colour palette of lilacs, cigars and summer whites. Roomy summer silhouettes in dresses, culottes. playsuits and Cuban shirts take you to a different era whilst still retaining a modern contemporary feel.
